Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
